What Is CQC Training?

Close Quarters Combat is a combat system developed for real-world engagements at close range. Unlike sport martial arts, CQC has no rules, no points system, and no weight classes, it's designed to work when the situation is dangerous and unpredictable.

CQC training draws from proven military systems adapted for civilian application. Future group classes will cover striking, grappling and defensive skills alongside physical conditioning and mindset under pressure.

Future group training is intended for men, women and teens of all fitness levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or have prior training experience, contact us to register your interest while the timetable is being confirmed.

Common Questions

What is Close Quarters Combat (CQC)?

CQC is a military combat and police system designed for close-range engagements where conventional distance isn't possible. It combines striking, grappling, and weapon defence into a compact, efficient system built for real-world application — not sport or competition.

Is CQC too intense for beginners?

Not at all. The class is suitable for all fitness levels and no prior martial arts experience is required. Techniques are taught progressively, and beginners are always looked after in the group environment.

How does it differ from the Women's Class?

The women's class is focused on the most common scenarios women face and runs in a female-only environment. The CQC class is mixed gender and covers a broader tactical curriculum drawn from military close combat systems — though both classes reinforce many of the same core principles.

What will I physically be doing in class?

Expect pad work, partner drills, technique practice under controlled pressure, and scenario-based training. Sessions are physically active but not extreme — you progress at the pace that's right for you.

Where and when does the class run?

Future Close Quarters Combat group classes are planned for Fitworld Health & Fitness Gym, 226 North East Road, Klemzig SA 5087. The timetable is to be confirmed; please contact us to register your interest in future training.
